RAIL FENCE JELLY ROLL RUG SUPPLY LIST
Must have taken Jelly Roll Rug class first. Must create ropes for each stripe prior to class. 40 ropes total.

Bosal Katahdin On-A-Roll 100% Organic Cotton Batting 2 ½ Inch X 50 yds or 2 1/4 inch x 50 yds. 

One Jelly Roll – 40 Strips  plus 4 to 5 2 ½ inch with of fabric (WOF) coordinating strips (for binding).  OR yardage of same or various colors to get 45 strips WOF.  NOTE:  WOF is usually 41-43 inches long—not the 23” some lesser sellers use.  DO NOT sew your strips together as we have done in the other jelly roll rug class.  This is a different method.

Thread coordinating color or neutral color

Either of Gypsy Quilter Jelly Roll Tube Maker Purple OR Clover Fabric Tube Maker

Wonder Clips

Seam Ripper

Jean Needle OR Janome Purple Needle

Scissor or snips

Rotary cutter

Cutting mat

Ruler 6 ½ Inches wide and at least 6 ½ inches long

Medium basket such as clothes basket (Optional)  (We will be sewing 40 separate tubes and it might be helpful to keep all your tubes together.

Sewing Machine with a Zigzag function AND foot that will allow for the zigzag.  A walking foot is another option.  Some rug makers prefer to use a walking foot but it’s not necessary.  I’ve made rugs with and without the walking foot.

Before class have a minimum of 3 filled bobbins of the thread you will be using.  The zigzag takes a lot of thread and you will need to switch out your bobbins as we create the rug.
