HQ 3 day Van Event



Day 1: Longarm Machine Quilting Basics 

Does longarm quilting interest you, and you’d like to learn more about it? Or do you just want a review of longarm quilting basics? This class removes the mystery of longarm quilting by explaining machine and frame elements and features, how to load a quilt, and vital facts about thread, needles and tension. Handi Quilter longarm machine and frame systems come in various sizes for every budget, and are user-friendly because they are designed by a quilter, for quilters – just like you!

Day 2: Creatively Customize Your Quilts (AM) and Start on the Right Foot (PM)

Creatively Customize Your Quilts:  Blocks, backgrounds, sashings and borders – these are the basic components of many pieced
quilt tops, and there are tricks to quilting them with a cohesive overall look, while creating your own personal style. Learn how to select and adapt designs to complement each area, and how to accomplish the quilting efficiently and easily. Tried-and-true fillers and “go-to” designs will be featured.

Start on the Right Foot:  Have you ever wanted to break away from your basic quilting and really see what your longarm can do? You piece, quilt on unique fabric, apply binding to your quilts, and a lot of other great time saving techniques on your longarm. Find out what your longarm can really do and get ready to get more projects done.


Day 3: Pro-Stitcher  Basics Hands On

Pro-Stitcher is an intuitive computer-guided quilting system designed especially for use with Handi Quilter longarm quilting machines. User-friendly and simple to operate, the step-by-step process for each function is easy and fun. Whether finishing your own quilts or consider a quilting business, come see the elegant and precise quilting you can accomplish with Pro-Stitcher.

Cancellation Policy

Thank you for signing up for a class at Fiberworx Fabric Studio.  To be respectful of our teachers the following cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to. 

  • In the event that you are unable to attend the class and it is more than 14 days before the class, you can receive a full refund of the class cost.
  • If you must cancel between 14 and 7 days prior to class date you will receive a Full Credit towards another class.
  • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to class, your class fee is 100% forfeited. Transfer to another class is not available with less than a 7-day cancellation.

Instructor: Edie Wait
Instructor Bio: Edie has dabbled in many arts and crafts while raising her son and going to college. She was also a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard for more than 21 years. Her career in the North Dakota Army National Guard ranged from part-time soldier to a full-time position at the Pentagon. One day she decided she wanted to make a quilt for her son for Christmas and discovered her true passion. She wanted to finish her own quilts and purchased her 1st Handi Quilter machine in 2012, the HQ Sixteen®. She started her home business, CountryPolitan Quilting that same year and has not looked back. Many free motion quilts later, she discovered Pro-Stitcher® and knew she just had to have it. Edie enjoys discovering the capabilities of a new software. In 2019 she upgraded to an HQ Avanté® with Pro-Stitcher, and in 2022 to an HQ Amara® with Pro-Stitcher. Today she uses free motion, rulers, Pro-Stitcher, and Pro-Stitcher Designer when she creates everything from an edge-to-edge design to custom designs for her customers. She loves the freedom to create that Pro-Stitcher and Pro-Stitcher Designer have brought to her successful business. Edie loves passing on her passion and knowledge about all aspects of quilting to her students. She teaches classes at two dffierent shops in North Dakota. Her curriculum ranges from piecing to longarm quilting for both beginner and advanced quilters. She is also versatile with her teaching platforms. She can teach private, individual classes, Zoom classes, and group/event classes. Her quilting prole includes projects ranging from designing an original piecing pattern to customized digital quilting designs. She is the mother of one son and grandmother to one granddaughter and lives in North Dakota.
